VARIOUS ARTISTS - A LINE IN THE SAND

Thanks for picking up A Line In The Sand, a compilation of protest songs by Arizona musicians opposed to SB 1070. By now you probably know SB 1070 is a crazy-ass immigration law that mandates cops in our state investigate the immigration status of anyone they think might be an illegal immigrant. What does that mean? Well, basically, it seems to boil down to people looking or sounding too Hispanic. If so, you’ve gotta show your paperwork or risk deportation. Plenty of people across the country are outraged about SB 1070. Artists and entertainers have been pouring into our state to help fight the law. That’s awesome and I think I speak for Arizona’s music community in thanking them for their support. Still, we wanted to show America that Phoenix’s music community isn’t going to leave this fight only to outsiders. The artists on this compilation are all Arizonans, standing in solidarity with our Latino friends and neighbors. As you’ll hear, these artists condemn SB 1070 for a wide variety of reasons - economic, religious, ethical, practical and constitutional. Whatever their beef, they’re joining together to oppose this bigoted bill. We thank you for supporting the cause by purchasing this compilation, the proceeds of which will be given to charities fighting for our state’s immigrants.
